101 Devotionals for Boys #67

101 Devotionals for Boys from the Lives of Great Christians and 101 Devotionals for Girls from the Lives of Great Christians will both be published in 2017. We’re publishing one or two devotionals a week to give you a taste of what you’ll get in those two gift books. This one is based on a story from George Mueller: Pickpocket to Praying Provider (Potter’s Wheel series #3).

***************

When he was young, George Mueller wanted to be a foreign missionary, but God called him to be a pastor in England.

Then he began to care for the orphans around him. Through the years as he trusted God to help him care for orphans, God provided thousands and hundreds of thousands of pounds. There came a time when the orphanage had more than it needed and George could put some away in savings—but not for himself.

One day, when the news came that the Pope had finally allowed the people of Spain to read the Bible, George had saved enough money to flood the land of Spain with Bibles within a few months. He paid for booklets and missionaries too.

George Mueller was excited to be able to give to such an important work. This way, even though he didn’t go to be a missionary, he could help others go.

“Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” ~II Corinthians 9:7

Help me to be a cheerful giver too, God, like George Mueller. Thank You that I can give money and time for Your work.
