101 Devotionals for Boys #72

101 Devotionals for Boys from the Lives of Great Christians and 101 Devotionals for Girls from the Lives of Great Christians will both be published in 2017. We’re publishing one or two devotionals a week to give you a taste of what you’ll get in those two gift books. This one is based on a story from Return of the White Book: True Stories of God at Work in Southeast Asia (Hidden Heroes #4).

***************

The Karen Christians gathered for the Annual Assembly, to sing, pray, and talk together, and to call for more missionaries. “Who will go to the Brec tribe?” the leader asked. The Brecs were vicious and violent.

Su Yah said, “I will go.”

“What about the wild animals on the way?” said someone.

“When I was young, God delivered me from a tiger and a bear. I’m not afraid of wild animals.”

“They may kill you before you get a chance to speak,” said someone.

“I know,” answered Su Yah. “But what better way to die than in the service of my King?”

God is calling many to be strong and very courageous, to go to the hard places even when they look daunting. He wants us to be people of courage, trusting our lives into His hands.

Su Yah won the hearts of the Brecs . . . by singing! He preached the truth of Christ, and many believed.

“Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the LORD!” ~Psalm 31:24

Father in heaven, thank You for examples of courage. Help me to be a courageous Christian too and be willing to give my life for You.
