101 Devotionals for Boys from the Lives of Great Christians and 101 Devotionals for Girls from the Lives of Great Christians will both be published in 2017. We’re publishing one or two devotionals a week to give you a taste of what you’ll get in those two gift books. This one is based on a story from Living Water in the Desert: True Stories of God at Work in Iran (Hidden Heroes #6).
***************
In 1979, the country of Iran underwent a massive revolution. The man who took over promised peace and plenty, but all he brought was violence and famine. The whole nation groaned under his harsh rule.
Hossein Soodmand and his wife knew the law said that anyone who converted from Islam to Christianity could be killed. But he said, “I believe God wants me to start a secret church. The people are so hungry for the truth, for peace. They need to arise and eat, just like the voice told me in the hospital.” He knew that these people needed the Living Bread, Jesus Christ.
Sunday after Sunday., dozens of people came to meet in that little basement. Hundreds of them were saved.
Our country still allows people to tell about their faith in Christ. But there are many around you who are hungry for what is true. You can help them by telling them of the Living Bread, Jesus Christ.
“When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.” ~Matthew 9:36
Lord Jesus, thank You that You have compassion on the people who need a shepherd. Please provide the truth for more and more people in Iran.
