101 Devotionals for Boys #63

101 Devotionals for Boys from the Lives of Great Christians and 101 Devotionals for Girls from the Lives of Great Christians will both be published in 2017. We’re publishing one or two devotionals a week to give you a taste of what you’ll get in those two gift books. This one is based on a story from Return of the White Book: True Stories of God at Work in Southeast Asia (Hidden Heroes #4).

***************

After George Boardman died, Francis Mason began the job of returning the White Book to the Karens. Faithful young men helped him learn the Karen language, with all its strange new sounds and vocabulary. Then he made symbols to represent their sounds—an alphabet. Then he and his wife taught the men to read. They helped him translate the first book of the New Testament.

He worked on all this for six years.

It sounds tedious! But finally, Mr. Mason produced the book of Matthew. The Karens rejoiced to read the White Book of Yuwah in their own language.

But the work wasn’t finished. Faithfully he continued another six years, translating the rest of the New Testament. More Karens read it and trusted Christ.

But the work wasn’t finished. Faithfully he continued another ten years, translating the Old Testament.

Altogether, this work took twenty-six years. But the lives of the Karens were forever changed. Being faithful was totally worth it.

“And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” ~II Timothy 2:2

Thank You, Lord, for faithful men who give their lives for You. Help me to be a faithful man too.
