101 Devotionals for Boys #44

101 Devotionals for Boys from the Lives of Great Christians and 101 Devotionals for Girls from the Lives of Great Christians will both be published in 2017. We’re publishing one or two devotionals a week to give you a taste of what you’ll get in those two gift books. This one  is based on a story from Living Water in the Desert: True Stories of God at Work in Iran (Hidden Heroes #6).

***************

In the hospital with a high fever, Hossein tossed and turned in a fitful sleep. Then a voice called, “Hossein, I am Jesus Christ. Arise and eat.” In his dream Hossein ate the food before him and felt stronger. In the morning he was well.  He knew that Jesus had healed him.

Hossein found a Christian church and began to ask the pastor many questions.  The pastor told him that in John chapter 6, Jesus said He was the Bread of Life, the source of strength. Hossein read and listened and studied and believed. He became a Christian.

For you, the source of your strength isn’t the written Word of God, even though that’s very important. The Bible points you to the source of your strength, the Living Word of God, Jesus Christ. He is the Living Bread from heaven. He promised that whoever eats from Him will have eternal life.

“And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.” ~John 6:35

Lord Jesus, I come to you again, asking you to fill me with Your living Bread. You are the source of all my spiritual strength. Thank You that I can to arise and eat.
