101 Devotionals for Boys #43

101 Devotionals for Boys from the Lives of Great Christians and 101 Devotionals for Girls from the Lives of Great Christians will both be published in 2017. We’re publishing one or two devotionals a week to give you a taste of what you’ll get in those two gift books. This one  is based on a story from George Mueller: Pickpocket to Praying Provider (Potter’s Wheel Books #3).

***************

George Mueller never asked anyone except the Lord for money to care for the orphans. The Lord spoke to His people and gave him so much that George was able to build a huge house for many more orphans.

Someone who lived in George’s town wrote, “Whenever I felt doubts about the Living God, I looked up in the evening. There on the hill I could see the many windows of the orphanage lit up. They gleamed out through the darkness like stars in the sky.”

This man knew George Mueller had no money of his own. He knew that every penny he received, he got only by asking God.

The man added, “When I looked at that place, I was reminded that God is alive.”

There are ways you can be reminded that God is alive too. He has done great things throughout history, and is doing them even now around the world, even where you live.

“Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” ~Luke 6:38

Heavenly Father, thank You for the ways that You show You’re alive and active in the lives of Your people. Thank You that as we give to You and trust You, You provide the needs of Your people.
