When George Mueller was grown, he loved and served God. But when he was young, he didn’t care about God at all.
Being a pastor was an easy way to make a good living, though, so that’s what George’s father wanted him to do. George went off to school where other boys were also preparing for Christian work. But none of them cared about God, or the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, or the Bible.
God has something to say about people like this. In Matthew 15:8 Jesus,
“This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; in vain do they worship me . . .”
God sees the heart, and He knows when the praises on a person’s lips aren’t real.
What about the praises on your lips? Are you anything like the boys in George’s school, studying about God but not caring anything about Him?
Now is the time to talk to Him about that, and ask Him to change your heart.
Father, thank You for the warnings You give in Your Word. Help me to live for You for real, truly wanting to seek after You.
