101 Devotionals for Boys from the Lives of Great Christians and 101 Devotionals for Girls from the Lives of Great Christians will both be published in 2017. We’re publishing one or two devotionals a week to give you a taste of what you’ll get in those two gift books. This one is based on a story from Living Water in the Desert: True Stories of God at Work in Iran (Hidden Heroes #6).
***************
“How can this be?” Saeed the Muslim muttered. “That Christian man is always kind and patient and truthful. He talks about the love of God, and he shows it. His whole life reflects all that he teaches! He never speaks badly of my people or my religion, though we speak badly of his people and his religion all the time! Why is this unbeliever so good, and we, the faithful Muslims, are not?”
Saeed’s agony came because he saw the fruit of real Christianity in the life of Pastor Yohannan. Real Christianity isn’t just about believing certain facts. It’s about having a transformed life. That’s what the verse at the top of the page means.
Because Saeed saw the gentle and loving life of Pastor Yohannan, and because he compared the Bible and saw that Jesus was better than Mohammed, he gave the Lord Jesus his whole heart and soul. His life was completely transformed too.
“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.” ~John 15:4
Dear God, thank you that I can go beyond just believing facts. Thank you that I can abide in You and bear fruit. Show me your work in me, by the power of your Holy Spirit to help me be like Jesus.
