101 Devotionals for Boys #40

101 Devotionals for Boys from the Lives of Great Christians and 101 Devotionals for Girls from the Lives of Great Christians will both be published in 2017. We’re publishing one or two devotionals a week to give you a taste of what you’ll get in those two gift books. This one  is based on a story from Lights in a Dark Place: True Stories of God at Work in Colombia (Hidden Heroes #5).

“You need to come help Chief Nacio,” said Santiago. “He’s dying.”

“What will happen if I come but he doesn’t get better?” missionary Chad Stendal asked.

“The people will kill you.”

“Lord,” Chad prayed, “should I go to Chief Nacio’s village and risk my life to bring them the gospel? If You want me to go, I’ll go, and if you want me to stay, I’ll stay.”

“Go!” said the Lord. His voice was like a powerful wind.

How can you hear God’s voice in your own life? It begins with reading His Word and spending quiet time with Him.  If you aren’t hearing from Him, maybe you have too many distractions. Maybe you have sin in your life. Or maybe you’re just not used to hearing him. Don’t be discouraged if it takes time. Focus on Him and ask Him to give you clear leading. The Lord is always speaking, and He loves to speak to His children.

Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” ~John 10:27

Thank You, Lord, that You speak, through Your Word and Your Spirit. Help me to learn how to listen for Your voice.
