101 Devotionals for Boys from the Lives of Great Christians and 101 Devotionals for Girls from the Lives of Great Christians will both be published in 2017. We’re publishing one or two devotionals a week to give you a taste of what you’ll get in those two gift books. This one is based on a story from Lights in a Dark Place: True Stories of God at Work in Colombia (Hidden Heroes #5).
***************
To get to the dying Chief Nacio, Chad Stendal climbed steep mountains, crossed rushing rivers, and edged along narrow paths that dropped off sharply.
When he ate the food that was given him, he didn’t know whether it was poisoned. When he gave the chief medicine and prayed over him, he wasn’t sure the chief would live.
Chad didn’t know if the Lord would do something great, or if he would never return home. He just knew the Lord had called him to go, and he wanted to be faithful.
The apostle Paul often felt the same way. He was willing to go forward for the sake of God’s Kingdom, but he said he was “often near death” (II Corinthians 11:23).
If you don’t feel this kind of boldness, don’t lose heart. Ask God to build boldness in you day after day as you grow in Him, for the glory of His Name. He loves to use those who want to faithfully follow Him.
“The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.” ~Proverbs 28:1
Heavenly Father, thank You for examples of boldness. Help me to be bold in going forward for You.
