101 Devotionals for Boys #31

101 Devotionals for Boys from the Lives of Great Christians and 101 Devotionals for Girls from the Lives of Great Christians will both be published in 2017. We’re publishing one or two devotionals a week to give you a taste of what you’ll get in those two gift books. This one  is based on a story from With Two Hands:  Stories of God at Work in Ethiopia (Hidden Heroes #1).

***************

Setta led Dick McLellan to the far village where Wagaso had already brought many to Christ. Then when Dick preached, many people came to Christ, even the witchdoctor. Setta could help the witchdoctor better learn the way of truth, because he was the son of a witchdoctor. Wagaso forgave the witchdoctor for the evil he had committed and discipled him.

God used Dick, Setta, and Wagaso in different ways to proclaim and teach the gospel of Jesus Christ. In I Corinthians 3:6, Paul said,

“I planted, Apollos [another Christian] watered, but God gave the growth.”

Every Christian has an important job in furthering the kingdom of God. You may not always see the results of your work for God, but if you’re faithful in “planting” or “watering” or whatever part of Kingdom growth He has called you to, He will bring the fruit, in the hearts and lives of people.

Thank You, Father, that You call different Christians to different tasks. Show me the task You’ve called me to, and help me to be faithful in it.
