101 Devotionals for Boys #27

101 Devotionals for Boys from the Lives of Great Christians and 101 Devotionals for Girls from the Lives of Great Christians will both be published in 2017. We’re publishing one or two devotionals a week to give you a taste of what you’ll get in those two gift books. This one  is based on a story from Living Water in the Desert: True Stories of God at Work in Iran (Hidden Heroes #6).

***************

William Miller had to stay in a desert city in Persia (Iran) for two years. He gave out the Word of God there, but saw no one come to Christ. The whole place seemed like a spiritual desert too.

Twenty years later William returned to that city and found that a Persian chief had come to Christ and was telling others about Jesus. “I learned about Him from the Bible that I got from you,” said the chief. “Twenty years ago.”

When you tell others about Jesus, you may feel discouraged that no one is listening. But remember that what you’re doing is sowing seeds. You may be the very first person to tell them  about Jesus, or the tenth. But as long as your life matches with your words, your words will bear fruit, maybe even where you least expect it! Someday one of them may say, “You were one of the reasons I came to Jesus. Thank you.”

“Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains.” ~ James 5:7

Thank You, Lord, that even when it feels like no one is listening to the gospel, You still have Your people who You’re calling to Yourself. Please help me to remember that.
