101 Devotionals for Boys #28

101 Devotionals for Boys from the Lives of Great Christians and 101 Devotionals for Girls from the Lives of Great Christians will both be published in 2017. We’re publishing one or two devotionals a week to give you a taste of what you’ll get in those two gift books. This one is based on a story from George Mueller: Pickpocket to Praying Provider (Potter’s Wheel Books #3).

***************

George Mueller wanted to bring glory to God by helping the many orphans who begged on the city streets, but he wanted to follow the Lord’s leading, and he didn’t want to ask anyone for money. So he prayed and prayed, asking the Lord to show him what to do.

One day George was reading Psalm 81:10. In it, God said,

“Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.”

George saw that God wanted to provide everything he would need for the orphans.

And God did provide. He provided the building, the supplies, and even the people, to take care of many orphans. George never asked anyone for money—every day he prayed for the things they would need the next day. For seven years God provided everything they needed, day by day.

Are you willing to trust the Lord like this? The Lord wants to show Himself strong for those who are willing to trust Him for His glory.

Thank You, Lord, that You want to do great things for those who trust You day by day. Show me how to trust You for my needs step by step in my life.
