101 Devotionals for Boys #25

101 Devotionals for Boys from the Lives of Great Christians and 101 Devotionals for Girls from the Lives of Great Christians will both be published in 2017. We’re publishing one or two devotionals a week to give you a taste of what you’ll get in those two gift books. This one is based on a story from Return of the White Book: True Stories of God at Work in Southeast Asia (Hidden Heroes #4).

***************

Thabew, a member of the Karen tribe, was a new Christian. But he couldn’t be baptized yet, because he still had a violent temper.

Before he was saved, Thabew’s rages had caused him to murder many people. Now that he was a Christian, even though he didn’t kill anyone, he still sometimes burst out into rages.

Do you have an anger problem? Do you know anyone who does?

Thabew knew he couldn’t be used of God the way he wanted to be until this problem was conquered. George Boardman prayed with Thabew for him to be delivered from his violent temper.

As time passed and Thabew trusted in Christ more and more, God did a transforming work. The rages that struck out against others changed. Instead, they became a passion against the kingdom of darkness, to see others delivered from slavery to sin. Thabew was baptized and became a fervent evangelist.

“Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.” ~ Ephesians 4:31

Lord, I long to see rages against other people be changed to anger against the kingdom of darkness, to deliver souls into the kingdom of Your dear Son. Do this in me and in the people around me, I pray.
