101 Devotionals for Boys #37

101 Devotionals for Boys from the Lives of Great Christians and 101 Devotionals for Girls from the Lives of Great Christians will both be published in 2017. We’re publishing one or two devotionals a week to give you a taste of what you’ll get in those two gift books. This one  is based on a story from Witness Men: True Stories of God at Work in Papua, Indonesia (Hidden Heroes #3).

***************

As the tribal people became more mature in their faith, they stopped the wild dancing and singing war songs before church meetings. Instead, they began to compose their own songs of worship to the mighty, loving Lord who had saved them.

“We love Jesus very much,” they sang. “He died for us. His body was broken for us. His blood paid for our sins.”

True worship is full of joy and thanksgiving. You worship God by thinking about how great He is and expressing your love for Him. He is “worthy”—that’s where the word worship comes from. He is worthy of all of our praise and adoration. He is worthy of the offering of our very lives.

“We’re thinking about the death of Christ,” the people sang. “We’re thinking that Christ will come. We will go to heaven to be with Him. We love Him very much.”

“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!” ~Revelation 5:12

Lord Jesus, thank You for dying for me. I worship You, because You are worthy.
