101 Devotionals for Boys #14

101 Devotionals for Boys from the Lives of Great Christians and 101 Devotionals for Girls from the Lives of Great Christians will both be published in 2017. We’re publishing one or two devotionals a week to give you a taste of what you’ll get in those two gift books. This one is based on a story from Witness Men: True Stories of God at Work in Papua, Indonesia (Hidden Heroes #3).

When six thousand people gather outside to hear the gospel and there are no microphones, what’s an evangelist supposed to do?

This is the problem the evangelists faced in Papua, Indonesia. So many people wanted to hear the gospel at once!

The Lord gave a creative solution. One Papuan evangelist stood in the middle of the crowd and began preaching, one line at a time. All through the crowd, other “echo preachers” stood. The ones close enough to hear him echoed his words. Then the ones farther out spoke, and on and on. That way, everyone in the crowd got to hear all of the gospel.

Would you have thought of solving this problem in that way? Sometimes challenges present themselves in our work for God, but God sees problems as opportunities for us to ask Him for a solution. If we seek Him in our service, He’ll give us wisdom to find answers to our challenges.

“Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.” ~Psalm 37:5

Thank you, Father, for all the good ideas You give people! Help me to be open to creative solutions You have for my problems.
