101 Devotionals for Boys #11

101 Devotionals for Boys from the Lives of Great Christians and 101 Devotionals for Girls from the Lives of Great Christians will both be published in 2017. We’re publishing one or two devotionals a week to give you a taste of what you’ll get in those two gift books. This one is based on a story from With Two Hands: Stories of God at Work in Ethiopia (Hidden Heroes #1).

**************

When Nana believed in Jesus, he refused to become a witchdoctor like his father Shaga. Even through his father’s beatings and other cruel treatment, he stood fast and refused to deny Jesus.

Nana was only twelve years old.

Eventually Nana grew up to become a great evangelist in Ethiopia, telling many people about Jesus, his death on the cross for their sins, His glorious triumph over death, and His love for them. The gospel spread like a wildfire around the country, and this evangelist who had endured much was a part of it. One day even his father trusted Jesus.

If you know Jesus personally, He’ll give you the strength to endure much, even through great trials and persecution. Don’t give up! Keep trusting Him! He has called you to a great and important work, to give His gospel to many.

Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. ~ I Corinthians 16:13

Heavenly Father, I trust You to give me the strength to stand strong in You even through persecution, and do Your will, like the examples of Christians through history.
